I was very pleased by his approach, and the speed with which Al completed the editing of my photos. He was informative and effective in his coaching and photography. My business partner went in to get some headshots with Al and he said he had such a good time in the session that he recommended that I go in to get my headshots updated. He was right! Al was great to work with, makes you very comfortable doing something that is admittedly uncomfortable for most people and the pictures came out great. Al was far superior to my typical headshot experience where you just stand there, snap a few pictures that look fine and then get shuffled out so the next person in line can go. After learning about our business and our roles, Al was able to accomplish something unique for each of us given our different roles in the business. Calvin of the Calvin and Hobbes cartoons has nothing on me -- if there is a way to screw up your face up into some contorted, horrible mess in a photo, I manage to find it despite my best efforts to just smile. I have a large collection of cringe-worthy professional photos as a result. So when I had a trip scheduled to Richmond, I decided to search online to find a photographer to try again to get a decent professional photo. I traveled 3 hours for my photoshoot with The Headshot Guy and I'm glad I did. Al is truly an expert in his field. He spends the time to get to know you and make you feel at ease. Although I dread getting a professional picture taken, Al made the photoshoot a fun, non-stressful event. He educated me about how quality headshots are taken and took sample shots to let me see how holding my chin down makes me look more approachable or how extending my head forward eliminates the double chin look. He explained every step of the process. He took about 50 photos of me and then we walked through the photos to discuss and evaluate which ones were best. He offered me the opportunity to try on different outfits and to take more photos until I was absolutely happy with the picture. The turn-around time once the photo was selected was amazing. Within about 1 hour after the shoot, Al sent me the half-body shot that I needed for my website that had been retouched, and also sent me the photo with different backgrounds, a square headshot, and even a circular photo for LinkedIn.
